Who runs One Good Accountant

One Good Accountant is run by Abbeygate Accountancy in Thurston, Suffolk: AAT Accountant of the Year 2025, Xero Gold Partner and rated 4.9 on Google. Abbeygate was founded in 2013 and works with business owners and MDs across England. Visit Abbeygate's website.

How we decide who you're matched with

• Abbeygate reviews every request first.
• Abbeygate takes on work it's set up to do well and has capacity for.
• Anything else goes to one trusted partner firm, for example audits, very specialist tax, or periods when Abbeygate is full.
• You're told the firm's name before anyone contacts you.
• Your details are only ever sent to one firm.

How we check firms

Abbeygate and our partner firm must both meet the same standards:

• Qualification: principals are current members of a recognised body such as AAT, ICAEW, ACCA, CIOT or ATT.
• AML supervision: supervised for anti-money laundering by a recognised professional body or HMRC.
• Insurance: professional indemnity insurance appropriate to the work.
• Service standards: reply really soon, respect contact preferences and give written fixed-fee quotes.

Who writes and reviews our guides

Guides are written in plain English and reviewed by a qualified accountant before publishing and whenever rules change. Each page shows the reviewer and the date it was last checked, and links to official sources such as GOV.UK.

How we make money

You never pay us. Abbeygate runs this site to meet new clients. If we introduce you to our partner firm, they may pay us a referral fee. It doesn't change the fee you're quoted.
